Common lighting projects – from spotlights to façades
Lighting is invisible until it is wrong. A kitchen with shadows across the worktop. An LED bulb flickering on an old dimmer. A dark entrance where nobody can find the keyhole. Just as often it is about possibilities: recessed spotlights that lift a newly renovated room, warm light on the terrace, or façade lighting that makes the house feel safe and welcoming through the dark months. Outdoors, many also want the light to look after itself – dusk sensors or timers switch it on and off with no one having to remember.
Many jobs start with dimmer trouble. Older dimmers were built for incandescent bulbs, and when the lamps are swapped for LED you get flicker, buzzing or lights that will not dim low. The dimmer's minimum load is often the culprit – modern LEDs draw so little current that old dimmers simply cannot register them. The fix is an LED-rated dimmer, matched to the right lamps.
- Recessed spotlights in kitchens, living rooms and hallways
- LED-compatible dimmers – no more flicker and buzz
- Outdoor lighting for façades, entrances, terraces and gardens
- Smart lighting with app control, scenes and schedules
- Replacing older fittings and lamp outlets
- Lighting plans for renovations – the right light in the right room
How a lighting project works
Good light is half planning, half execution – and our process reflects that. We take it in five steps.
- 1. Review – what are the rooms used for, what bothers you today and what do you want to achieve? Photos and a simple floor sketch go a long way.
- 2. Proposal – placement, number of light points and the technical choices: dimming solution, colour temperature and any smart control.
- 3. Installation – a certified electrician runs cable, cuts recesses and fits drivers, luminaires and dimmers.
- 4. Adjustment – we aim the spotlights, set the dimmer levels and check that the light is stable and flicker-free.
- 5. Handover and documentation – you learn how the controls work and know what was installed where.
Good to know before you book
Dimmer and lamp must match – that is the single most common cause of flicker. Outdoors, the enclosure rating decides: fittings in sheltered positions manage with a lower IP rating, while exposed positions and ground spots need higher. Outdoor connections and junction boxes must be made for outdoor use. In bathrooms, zone rules apply to lighting too, and if spotlights are to be recessed into an insulated ceiling, the fittings must be approved for it so heat can dissipate safely.
Think about the character of the light as well: warm white around 2700 K suits most homes, while work surfaces often benefit from somewhat cooler light. Fixed installation work – new light points, recessed spots, dimmers – may only be carried out by an authorised electrical installation company under Swedish rules; changing bulbs you naturally do yourself. Private individuals can often use the ROT deduction, worth 30 percent of the labour cost. Current conditions are published by Skatteverket.
